Walking on the beach today in beautiful Vancouver, I couldn’t help but notice the high number of “skinny-fat” girls. I give kudos to any woman who feels confidant to wear a bikini in public and feel great about themselves. The issue I have is with girls who strut their stuff thinking they are “all that” when clearly they are not. I am frustrated with women striving to be thin at the cost of their health. Why are women striving to be skinny-fat?
Someone who looks thin and good in clothes but when their clothes come off, they are flabby and not toned by any means. Usually, a skinny-fat person eats junk food and doesn’t appear to put on weight. These careless eaters eat anything without giving thought to their internal health, commonly ending up with heart disease, diabetes, or other health related issues. The skinny-fat girl doesn’t have an ounce of muscle and is definitely not my idea of a great body.
Body composition is the measure of lean tissues to fat tissue. A healthy body is determined by the percentage of fat to lean muscle mass. Ideally, one would keep fat mass low and muscle mass high. Muscle weighs more than fat, so one who is looking for weight loss should not step on the scale for weight-loss reference if they are lifting weights. One should measure fat loss by the way their clothes fit and how they feel, not the irrelevant number on the scale!
So ladies, mind your health and start weight-training, forget the damn number on the scale and eat real food! With these simple tips you will look so much better and be so much healthier…not just someone who can fit into a size 2, yet have a flabby, unhealthy body.
